The HALO Kilmarnock welcomed the Scottish Government’s Director General (Economy), Louise Macdonald OBE, and other guests on Tuesday (10th August 2022) as part of a day of discussions and presentations focused on community driven urban regeneration and the importance and impact of the Ayrshire Growth Deal.

The Ayrshire Growth Deal offers a true vision for Ayrshire. The Deal is a partnership being driven forward by the Scottish Government, the UK Government and East, North and South Ayrshire Councils. The Deal presents a major opportunity to strengthen the Ayrshire, Scottish and UK economies, with £251.5 million of funding available to help Ayrshire to realize its potential as a world-class business region, including supporting the HALO Kilmarnock in its journey so far.

Alongside an extensive tour of the HALO’s multi-award-winning Enterprise and Innovation Centre, including the #RockMe Trading Floor, guests were treated to presentations from a variety of industry experts from across Ayrshire including: Jude King, Programme Manager at AGD; Fiona Kennedy of NHS Salus; Laura Neill, Senior Manager Employability & Skills at East Ayrshire Council; and Fiona Paterson, Project Development Manager (Economic Growth) at East Ayrshire Council.

Following the positive and productive discussions, guests had the opportunity to network and enjoy samples from some of Ayrshire’s best food and drink makers including Blackthorn Salt and Scotch & Co.

Commenting on the event, Marie Macklin CBE, Founder and Executive Chair of the HALO, said:

“We’ve been thrilled to welcome Louise MacDonald OBE and other fantastic guests from across Ayrshire to experience the world class facility here at the HALO in Kilmarnock. The Ayrshire Growth Deal continues to play an important role in not just the continued success of the HALO but in a number of exciting projects across the region.

“We look forward to continuing our important work with the Scottish and UK governments and all the Ayrshire Councils as we all look to build a positive, sustainable and net zero tomorrow’s world.”
